Heath Ledger by Michelle Clark

Matilda is my own hack at a blogging engine. After a few months frustration with some other cms engines I finally bit the bullet and built my own.

So far it sports,

  • RSS / ATOM Feed generation for Articles & Pages
  • Ping Support (tell site's you've posted something new)
  • Twitter Support
  • JQuery javascript framework (lighter than Prototype)
  • Full Admin System
  • Site Search on Main Site + Admin side
  • Comment Approval System
  • Custom Captcha Questions (make up your own)
  • 100% working Typo to Matilda Importer
  • Theme Support (currently only Scribbish available)
  • Page Caching + Sweeper Scripts
  • Dynamic Sidebars (similar to widgets in Wordpress)

By no means complete it is a stab in the right direction for me, and running under the latest RoR libraries and Debian Etch it is putting out better performance with a lighter database footprint.

Still needs some tweaking but the source is now available on GitHub.

Why the Name ?

The name came out of a long discussion with my fiancee who drew the painting of Heath Ledger you see above. The initial idea was to produce something along these lines where any donations would go to the late Mr Ledger's charity, but in the end I really wanted to release it.

So if you still feel bad about Heath Ledger's passing, why not donate anyway,

Keep you posted,

All the best,

John.
